Geriatric Medicine-- Dr. Mario Cornacchione D. O. is a Geriatrician/Director of the program. He is a  Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Regional Education Coordinator at The Commonwealth Medical College- Scranton, PA; Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Institute for Successful Aging, University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey -- School of Osteopathic Medicine.

He has been the principal investigator on a number of research studies in geriatrics, dementia and long-term care and has participated in the development of many national clinical practice guidelines. He most recently was a workgroup member and co-authored the National Clinical Practice Guideline: Dementia Management in the Long Term Care Setting as well as the National Clinical Practice Guideline: Delirium & Acute Problematic Behavior in the Long Term Care Setting developed by the American Medical Directors Association.

Dr. Cornacchione has 25 years experience in teaching and continues to have an active long term care medicine practice. He is a consultant at dementia units and John Heinz Rehabilitation Hospital. While publishing widely & lecturing nationally he continues to serve as a consultant for many major pharmaceutical companies on dementia, geriatric and long-term care related issues. He currently serves on the Alzheimer's Association Pensylvania Chapter Board of Directors. He has served on the editorial advisory board for the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association, the Board of Directors of the  American Medical Directors Association and currently is on the editorial board for Assisted Living Consult.
