What Will Happen During My Visit to the
During your first visit you will receive a comprehensive diagnostic appointment where the Geriatrician will review your family history, perform a physical examination and order lab /imaging work(MRI,PET)/ Spinal Fluid Analysis, cognitive testing as necessary.
During your second visit you will have cognitive testing performed. This appointment is usually one to two weeks after your first visit. Subsequent to these appointments, you will have an appointment in 3 to 6 months to review your treatment. How Do I Pay for My Evaluation? Medicare -- once your deductible has been met, Medicare will cover the cost of the visit and testing.
The third visit is a Family Conference to discuss results of your tests, your diagnosis, treatment plan, specific community resource recommendations as well as provide family education regarding your diagnosis and treatment. We may also recommend caregiver counseling by our social worker if necessary.
Is a Referral Needed?
Patients themselves, family, a physician or community agency can refer.
We do not take the place of a patient's Family Physician. Patients continue to see their personal physicians for prescriptions and basic health care.
Non- Medicare -- the cost of the evaluation may be covered by some insurances. This will need to be authorized by your insurance before your visit.
